Reflective Blog TIE 300

This blog is for TIE300 my technologies class. I will be looking at six other blogs and answering questions for this assignment.

Teacherbytes

http://www.teacherbytes.blogspot.com/

A few of the topics discussed are the possible use of mobile phones in the classroom, netbooks instead of laptop and the use of blackberry. One of the topics I found interesting is the possible use of phones in the classroom. He briefy discusses that with the shortage of computers we could utilize the phones the students already have to our advantage. He also discusses other types of technologies and stories. The format of page is ok with a large photo of himself on it.

Pedagogypractice

http://pedagogypractice.blogspot.com/

This teacher discusses the use of a weekly calender to answer questions or comments the students have. He will have them write comments about class or answer questions that he will ask on what the might be working on that week. This teacher also discusses pass/fail assignments, differentiating reading and why he blogs. He has a three column format that works well with all the info that he has. I think that he has some good ideas like the calender. This calender would only work if you have small class size.

Get Lost

This blog is like taking a field trip to different places. Lots of places or things to find out about by just clicking away. Talks and show places, foods and has videos to play also. The format is simple with light green and blue. These colors give a calm and friendly feel to site. I would recommend to anyone whose just wants to explore. Just click away at the different places and your off.

Technology in the classroom

http://wyatt67.edublogs.org/

This has different challenges and questions every week. This has everything from lessons to how to make the better bloggers. They post different things from stories to activities or what would be your favorite holiday. This is good to get students interested in blogging but I think the main idea is to get them writing. I think this would be good for other students to see and may motivate them to write. The only thing that I did not like was that the font seemed small to me.

A Teacher's Adventure in Cyberspace

http://cyberspaced.blogspot.com/

This site has lots of cool things like graphs alive and another blog A Teachers adventure into Cosmology. This is neat to chech out if you are interested in the solar system, planets or things in our universe. This format is very colorful and has a lot of cool graphics. This would be good for a science class to look at.

Kim's Ventures in Educational Technology

This is cool for a science class project. She discusses the Bugscope at University of Illinois a new outreach educational program. Teachers can sign up and send their own bugs to be viewed under a scanning electron microscope. There are some pictures of a fly posted at different magnifications. She also talks about classroom websites and ePortfolios. The site she created is very colorful and has other topics worth looking at. I would recommend this especially for a biology class.
